Setting You & Your Students Up For Success
simple ways to spot a high-quality afterschool program
How to Recognize a High-Quality Afterschool Program
1. Talk to other parents about programs that they recommend.
2. Observe potential programs you would like your child to participate in.
3. Examine the relationships between the staff and other students.
4. Develop an awareness of the physical environment (Is it clean? Is it safe?).
5. Ask questions.
It never hurts to ask about staff training, experience, and qualifications. Ask about extracurricular activities, the daily schedule, academic enrichment, and other activities offered during the program time.
